Gaining the ‘Core Contributor’ badge in WordPress 5.6

It looks like it's you πŸ˜‚, you committed to WordPress core in changeset #49109. So it would seem I did...

When I woke up this morning, I was cruising twitter and came across a tweet that JJJ quoted in a discussion around Automattics direction of control for WordPress. Iit was not the discussion, but the attachment that had me intrigued. When I clicked on the link it took me to Jean-Baptiste Audras‘ article WordPress 5.6 Core Stats: contributions by country & company.

I was looking at the WP 5.6 credits – Companies by people image, and then noticed Beachbody at about 8’oclock to the Automattic circle. I thought it was odd, and was searching my brain for whom that could have been. So I asked Jean who that could have been. His response:

It looks like it’s you πŸ˜‚ @TheFrosty https://profiles.wordpress.org/austyfrosty/ And here is the related commit: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/49109

Well, that’s strange, I thought to myself. But after looking at changeset #49109 It became clear to me on how I became a core contributor. This summer when WordPress 5.5 was released, it had some _doing it wrong_ warning notices to registered REST API routes when omitting a permission_callback parameter. I helped contribute some fixes to three plugins, two of which were for this warning. Well, as noted on the Tavern, Application Passwords was integrated into WordPress core.

So I guess I should thank Jean for the article which helped me to learn I became a contributor 2 months ago πŸ˜‚.
