The past two weeks (including this one) I’ve helped push three WordPress plugin updates to help support some changes to that occurred in WordPress 5.5.
Custom Login 3.2.10
The first being a personal plugin I have been working on for many years: Custom Login, which you can see the release updated on GitHub.
WP Rest Menus 1.3.2
The second being a popular REST API plugin for WordPress menu support WP API Menus (among headless installs at least). I helped out with this GitHub PR and even got contributor access to the repo. I am aware that menus may show up in core in 5.6, at least according to trac #40878 (It is 3+ years old).
Application Passwords 0.1.2
The third being a low install plugin originally from George Stephanis which recently saw a move into the WordPress GitHub organization. I had some high hopes that the move would help get the REST API changes into a fast follow update, but I had to reach out on WordPress Slack to ask. I’m glad that with the response I got, and the quick fix I helped follow up with in this PR that an update was pushed to dot org.
Three plugins in two weeks updated for WordPress 5.5 support. π
Update (Dec 22nd, 2020): The Application Passwords PR gave me WordPress Core Contributor status.
